2022 Summer Travel Trends - Global

Summer 2022 marks a huge milestone in the recovery of the travel industry as people look to get away after two years of pandemic uncertainty and restrictions. Across largely open borders, worldwide hotel occupancy in April ended on a high note at 62%, surpassing 2019 levels for the first time since the pandemic began. The numbers have only continued to climb since then, with May finishing at 63% hotel occupancy.

This pent-up demand is driving people to not only take longer trips but spend more as well, as prices surge across the travel ecosystem on everything from hotel room rates to car rentals.
