Travel continues its recovery in Germany as the high period for summer holidays approaches. Hotel occupancy has been climbing each month from a low of 21% in January 2022, finishing nearly on par with 2019 performance for May 2022 at 62% occupancy.
Also notable is the high transient average daily rate (ADR) achieved by hoteliers, reaching a high of $166 per room in June, versus $153 for the same month in 2019 (pre-pandemic).
Along with the price and demand for hotels, car rentals are also proving popular. Booking volumes are up 273% for the months of June, July, and August 2022 versus 2021, with a 22% bump in average daily rate. Car rental length is also up slightly this year, as Germans look to extend their holidays longer than previous years.
